HealthCorps, Inc. is committed to protecting the online and offline privacy of users and donors. Portions of our site are directed to our adult donors, friends, and supporters, while other areas include content specifically designed for HealthCorps’ teen participants. OVERVIEW OF THE HEALTHCORPS, INC. DONOR PRIVACY POLICY

HealthCorps, Inc. adheres to the standards of ethics laid out in the Association of Fundraising Professionals “Donor Bill of Rights”:

  • To be informed of the organization’s mission, of the way the organization intends to use donated resources, and of its capacity to use donations effectively for their intended purposes.
  • To be informed of the identity of those serving on the organization’s governing board, and to expect the board to exercise prudent judgment in its stewardship responsibilities.
  • To have access to the organization’s most recent financial statements.
  • To be assured their gifts will be used for the purposes for which they were given.
  • To receive appropriate acknowledgement and recognition.
  • To be assured that information about their donation is handled with respect and with confidentiality to the extent provided by law.
  • To expect that all relationships with individuals representing organizations of interest to the donor will be professional in nature.
  • To be informed whether those seeking donations are volunteers, employees of the organization or hired solicitors.
  • To have the opportunity for their names to be deleted from mailing lists that an organization may intend to share.  As well, HealthCorps will not sell donor information to any third-party entity, nor share donor information with outside parties without the express consent of the donor.
  • To feel free to ask questions when making a donation and to receive prompt, truthful and forthright answers.

OVERVIEW OF THE HEALTHCORPS, INC. WEBSITE PRIVACY POLICY

This Privacy Policy applies to information collected online when visiting our website , www.healthcorps.org.

  • You do not have to provide personal information to visit and enjoy many features of our site. To make a contribution online, purchase products, participate in message boards, or sign up for e-updates or newsletters, or engage in certain other activities, we will request personal information from you, such as your name, age, address, and e-mail address..
  • We use the information that you voluntarily provide to fulfill your requests, such as signing you up for e-updates or newsletters or filling your purchase order, and for surveys and user research to improve our site.
  • We do not share your personal information with third parties, other than with our agents who provide technical support for our site or help fill your purchase order.
  • We may offer community features for teenagers at our site. Entry to our message boards requires a user name only. Message board postings are screened in advance to prevent disclosure of personally identifiable information. We collect anonymous, aggregate data to improve our site and features.

INFORMATION YOU PROVIDE

Visitors can visit our site without registering or providing personal information, but we do collect personal information to make certain features and options available. We collect personal information when you voluntarily provide it, for instance when signing a guest book, registering for e-mail updates, completing our online surveys, making a donation, or purchasing products. When you communicate with us by email or through our website or social media accounts, we collect information about your communication and any information you choose to provide.

On our pages directed to teenagers, we typically require only a first name and e-mail address to respond to a question; that information is then deleted.

On our pages directed to adults, we may ask for first and last name, mailing address, phone number, and an e-mail address; an address and phone number is required to process online orders or donations, and other demographic information is requested to help us understand our visitors’ backgrounds, needs, and interests.

INFORMATION HEALTHCORPS COLLECTS AUTOMATICALLY

Like many websites on the Internet, when you visit our website, HealthCorps may assign your computer one or more cookies to facilitate access to the Site and to personalize your online experience. Through the use of a cookie, HealthCorps also may automatically collect information about your online activity on the website, such as the web pages you visit, the time and date of your visits, and the links you click on the website. HealthCorps may use this data to better understand how you interact with the website, to monitor aggregate usage by our users and web traffic routing on the website, and to improve our website. WHAT WE DO WITH COLLECTED INFORMATION

We use the personal information we collect to fulfill your requests. For instance, if you wish to start a HealthCorps program in your area, donate to HealthCorps, or purchase a product online, we will use the information you provide to provide you with information, process your donation or purchase order. If you visit the website and register to receive a newsletter, we will use the registration information to send the newsletter.

We also use collected information to evaluate and administer our service, respond to any problems that may arise, notify you about important changes or developments to our website and services; and to gauge user trends to determine what features are of most interest to our visitors.

We may, at times, produce reports containing aggregate information about our users such as demographic, age, and online usage information. This allows us to provide information and features that are most relevant to our users. We do not include personally identifiable information in these reports.

SHARING YOUR DATA

We retain your personal information as long as we are working with you regarding donations. We retain your personal information after donation services cease, to the extent necessary to fulfill your request (for example, keeping your email address to make sure it’s not on our mailing list); to comply with our legal and regulatory obligations; for the purpose of fraud monitoring, detection and prevention; to comply with our tax, accounting, and financial reporting obligations; or where we are required to retain the data by our contractual commitments to our partners. Where we retain data, we do so in accordance with any limitation periods and records retention obligations that are imposed by applicable law, rule, or regulation.

Even if we delete your information from our systems, keep in mind that the deletion by a third party provider may not be immediate and that the deleted information may persist in backup copies for a reasonable period of time.

OUR SECURITY FEATURES

HealthCorps (either itself or through third party service providers) maintains a variety of commercially reasonable electronic and procedural safeguards designed to protect your personal information from unauthorized access and disclosure. For example, HealthCorps uses accepted tools and techniques to protect against unauthorized access to HealthCorps’ systems, including by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology to protect credit card data during transmission. HealthCorps employees are made aware of its website privacy practices and we limit access to personal information to those employees with a specific need to retrieve this information.

You should be aware that HealthCorps has no control over the security of other sites on the Internet that you might visit or with which you might interact even when a link may appear to another site from one of the Services. HealthCorps wants you to feel confident using the Services, but no system can be completely secure. Therefore, although HealthCorps takes steps to secure your information, HealthCorps does not promise, and you should not expect, that your personal information or communications will always remain secure. CHILDREN’S PRIVACY

The HealthCorps website is not intended for use by persons under the age of 13 years old. Persons under the age of 13 are not permitted to use the website and must not attempt to submit any personal data to us. We therefore do not knowingly collect any personal data from any person who is under the age of 13. If it comes to our attention that we have collected personal data from a person under the age of 13, we will delete this information as quickly as possible.

HealthCorps does not sell (as such term is defined in the California Consumer Privacy Act) the personal information we collect (and will not sell it without providing a right to opt out).

VISITORS FROM OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES

This Privacy Policy is intended to cover collection of information on our website from residents of the United States and is not directed to the residents of any other country. If you are visiting this website from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States where HealthCorps’ servers are located and HealthCorps’ central database is operated. By using our website, you understand that your information may be transferred to HealthCorps’ facilities and those third parties with whom HealthCorps shares it as described in this Privacy Policy.
